Yes, doing someone for someone else is a must, and also keeping expectations realistic.
If you picture what you don't want to happen at Christmas (ie a cranky mood) vividly and then concentrate even more so on what you do want to have happen and keep that picture in mind while taking steps in the 'happier' direction - you will find that you attract the better outcome quite naturally.
