My Self Confidence Tip: Pay Attention To What Matters.
by Pink Toes
My son gave me the best self confidence tip ever. It came when I was at my lowest, and has helped me every day since.
The past few months has been devastating for me. I am a single mother that has lost her job with the company that I have been with for the past 6 years.
I have always been the sole provider for both of my young children and now that has been taken from me. My sense of purpose was gone. I had no idea who I was anymore because all I had been for 6 years was a faithful workaholic to my company.
One morning my son sat me down and said "Mommy, I am glad you don't work there anymore, I get to spend a lot more time with you now".
I suddenly realized that my identity and self worth was not about the kind of employee I was ut the kind of mother and person I was.
My depression over the situation creeps up every now and then as I am still unemployed. When that happens I spend some time with my kids and remember who I want to be not who I was.
