Not a Failure Until You Blame Someone Else...

by Tracey Jones
(Harrisburg)

Hi Suzie, love the link and am now following you on Twitter as well!

I totally agree. My father used to say, "No one is a failure, until they blame someone else." So you know what he instilled in me growing up:-)

I was at the Gettysburg battlefield in PA this past Saturday, taking a tour as I've done many times before. But this time I heard them say that when General Lee left the fields in defeat, his men heard him proclaim that it was all his fault. He accepted full responsibility for the Confederate Army's defeat.

Now that's an example of leadership no matter which side of the fight you were on.

Reading examples of men and women that have stood up to accept responsibility really encourages me. I also work hard to instill it in the workplace. Nothing sticks out worse than a boss that shirks responsibility.

SUZIE'S COMMENTS...

Tracey,

No two things exemplify the power of taking responsibility then your father's wise words and General Lee's actions. Wow - thank you for taking the time to share.

And, thanks for the Twitter connect. I just started doing that in January. It's fun, still getting the hang of it. I'll 'see' you there!

I encourage others to check out your Tremendous Life book site and your tribute to your father. Appreciate what you are doing there...

All the Best, and More!
Suzie
