Here are simple and important tips for improving your inspiration:
- Realize the power of an ‘Inspired You’. Make a commitment to acknowledge undercurrents and address conflicts quickly.
- Take personal accountability for every conversation you have about work. Ask yourself, “Is this conversation helping me get or stay inspired?”
- Read inspiring books, biographies & audio tapes. Hang around people who are inspired. For a book list, check out our book reviews.
- Make a list of energizers/drainers. Resolve to create a plan to reduce or eliminate the drainers.
- Build your self-awareness by knowing and using your strengths. Find ways to build your life around these strengths.
- Craft a vision that ‘calls’ and inspires you…write about it, talk about it. “In one year I want…In 5 years, I want…”
- Re-kindle your interest in your field. Attend organizational meetings that represent your field, your craft, and your interests.
- Do what revitalizes you when you’re not at work.
- Practice optimism by creating a Positive Aspects Notebook. Write in it every day. Use this notebook to make long lists of what is working in your life.
